Motor and Locking Winch

The winch to the left is used to pull on the locking cable. The motor and gearbox turn the main shaft. The box to the right is the where the limit switches are located.

  1. I can’t remember the exact specs. I’ll go look at it next time I’m out there. Whatever it is the gear ratio is not low enough. It’s a 2HP two shaft right angle worm gear box. I think it’s around a 60:1 and it needs to be around 80:1. The door was actually heavy enough to back spin the motor so that is why I had to put the brake on it. Also the motor flange on the gearbox was really odd on mine and that made finding a motor really difficult.
